Canon Communications LLC Appoints Rich Nass as Director of Content for Medical Device Brands

Los Angeles, July 13, 2010—Canon Communications LLC has appointed Rich Nass to the position of Director of Content for Medical Device Brands.  In his new role, Nass will be responsible for maintaining Canon’s commitment to editorial excellence while ensuring that its medical device brands deliver content across multiple channels in a manner that best supports the needs of the global medical OEM community.  He is also tasked with finding new opportunities that make use of various content types and elements in the medical media space.

Nass joins Canon having previously held the position of Director of Media/Content at EE Times Group, where his key responsibilities included setting the editorial direction for the various properties within EE Times Group, with a special emphasis on Design and Products, as well as the global Embedded Systems Conferences, ARM TechCon, DesignCon, and all custom events, including virtual events.  Before taking on his role for EE Times Group, he oversaw the Embedded and Custom groups and the TechOnline DesignLine network of design engineering web sites.  Prior to that, he spent six years as the Editor-in-Chief of Portable Design magazine, launching a magazine and technical conference in China.  Nass holds a BS degree in electrical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

In response to the hiring, Canon’s Senior VP of Publishing, Ron Wall remarked, “Rich has over 20-years experience working with OEMs in the electronics space and we have every confidence he will be able to translate that experience into a successful run in the medical device space.  He understands the direction BtoB media is moving and how to best deliver content at every point of contact from web to print to conferences.  We are excited to have him on board.”

Nass is eager to tackle his new responsibilities saying, “Canon has the leading medical device media brands, and with the commitment they have shown to research and e-media development, it's a ‘sky’s the limit’ scenario as far as where we can take these brands and the OEM professionals they serve.  Audiences across the globe are becoming increasingly media savvy and increasingly diverse in their content consumption.  As the primary brands serving the medical device industry, it's our job to stay a step ahead by being both tech and thought leaders in this space.”

As Director of Content, Nass will oversee content development for the full Medical Device Brands division which includes; MD&DI, Medical Product Manufacturing News, European Medical Device Technology, Qmed, IVD Technology, OrthoTec, Medical Electronics Design, China Medical Device Manufacturer, and Japan Medical Design & Manufacturing Technology.
