Michael P. Behringer

Michael Behringer

Michael P. Behringer is a founding member and Managing Director of Apprise Media LLC, where he is responsible for the sourcing, diligence, structuring, acquisition, underwriting, management and exit strategies for all of the firm's portfolio investments. Behringer sits on the Boards of Directors of all of the firm's operating companies, including Canon Communications LLC, Beckett Media LP, and The Action Pursuit Group LLC. Behringer brings over 15 years of investment and operational experience in the specialty publishing, Internet, television and video industries.

Prior to establishing Apprise, Behringer was Executive Vice President of Consumer Source Inc. (formerly known as Haas Publications), the #1 publisher and distributor of free consumer guides in the United States, with such leading brands as Apartment Guide, New Home Guide, Apartmentguide.com and Rentals.com. There, Behringer managed several online divisions including RealEstate.com, Rentals.com, and Domania. Prior to that, he served as Managing Director, Corporate Development at PRIMEDIA Inc., the parent company of Consumer Source, where he was responsible for acquisitions, divestitures and strategic investments involving PRIMEDIA's enthusiast magazines, trade publications, consumer guide books, Internet, video and television properties.

Earlier, Behringer served as Director of Business Affairs at Discovery Channel's Your Choice TV, an early pioneer in the field of video-on-demand television programming. He began his career at Dewey Ballantine LLP where he specialized in private equity and mergers and acquisitions.

Behringer received a J.D. cum laude from the University of Michigan School of Law, and an A.B. cum laude from Columbia University. He was a Visiting Research Scholar and Lecturer at the Eötvös Loránd School of Law in Budapest, Hungary, and served as an adviser to the Hungarian political party, Fidesz. Behringer is a Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and serves as a director of the Human Care Charitable Trust, a non-profit organization developing medical care facilities in New Delhi, India.
